Founded in January 2002, the LHFS Pilots Group is an international community of virtual pilots from 14 countries worldwide, simulating flights of Lufthansa. Our group is a non-profit virtual organization focusing on realistic airliner operations using PC based flight simulation software, also supporting high quality professional add-ons and internet-based real time air traffic control.

Our goal is to simulate Lufthansa flights from preflight briefing to shutdown as closely as possible based on actual flight schedule data. To achieve this we use, support and recommend the use of high quality expansion products to Microsoft Flight Simulator. Our group supports FS versions 2000 and newer. We are not a virtual airline. The group is a community of virtual pilots sharing common interest in simulated flights with airliners of Lufthansa.

Founded and managed by real pilots, the Group is  and professionals from various fields and professions. Our members are virtual pilots from over the world, in all age categories. Because we are not a virtual airline, and to somehow limit the pilots in registering only to become an inactive member, we have significantly raised the requirements for membership over the summer of 2002. The group will always concentrate on providing high quality services to its members, let there be minor interest or large.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. The only thing you can do is reapplying for membership.

e.g. Can I perform a flight listed for the 737 using an A320 instead?
These type of aircraft changes occur also in real life, but are seldom and not a regular practice. So if you want to file a PIREP you can do it as long as you stick to certain rules:
- You may in certain cases (say e.g. once a month) make this substituation so long as it remains realistic: similar range aircraft types are often replaced on flights in real life. This is however always an anomaly, differing from the published information. It`s best to keep ourselves to the schedules, as we unfortunately have no live source of information that would provide a listing of these changes on a daily basis.
- Overall we do not prohibit such changes: as long as you maintain a professional attitude - your flight reports always give away how organized a pilot is - and don`t make a habit of it, you`re more than welcome to increase your enjoyment and substitute similar types as per the above. But you have to write it in the Remarks field, in your Report.

We do not respond to items covered in our FAQ, operations guide, or membership terms and conditions. Please read the information on our website before posting questions. If your question was not answered on our website, the delay of response may simply be caused by our workload. It can take up to 10 business days for us to reply to some inquiries. Your patience and understanding in these cases is appreciated.

Did you complete the minimum required flights per month? If you did not, your account expired, and was probably removed. Failure to comply with our membership T&C will result in the permanent removal of the membership account. You should have reviewed the terms and conditions of membership when applying.

Our philosophy is to operate the following flights:
a) Lufthansa flights
b) Lufthansa Cityline flights
c) Codeshare flight, where we have a valid cooperation.
You find the flights in our flight schedule system, accessible through the menu by clicking Flights.

The website is designed for Microsoft Internet Explorer 6. We recommend the use of IE to avoid display problems. At the moment our web development resources are limited, and we have no capacity to cater full compatibility for browsers other than IE.

Flights operated by LH Cityline are operated by the LH Cityline aircraft fleet. Search for the specific aircraft type in the schedule to find your desired flight.

If you did not select your second typerating during the application process, you can do so anytime later on by visiting the Settings page of the Member Center (Click Profile to open the Member Center).

Yes. Recent changes in our policies now allow members to hold typeratings for two aircraft type families. Changing your second aircraft type is subject to the same strict criteria as detailed elsewhere in this FAQ.

After logging in, open your profile (Select `Profile` at the bottom of the page.) To upload an image of yourself, please read the requirements, and make sure that the image corresponds to all of them very carefully. Select `Browse` to locate the file for upload on your hard disk, then click on Upload to complete the operation. If the process was successful, you will be returned to the profile page and should see your picture displayed. To change your display picture, simply upload a new image at any time. To have your picture removed, click the hyperlink below the upload area for immediate deletion.

When on the logbook page, click on a member`s name to view his/her profile. The pilot profile will contain flight data as well as some personal data about each member. Members may disable their profile and/or e-mail address, which will prevent others from viewing this information in such cases.

Your member profile contains a listing of all your submitted flight reports. The status of your flight reports will be displayed here: in case of a rejected flight report, moving the mouse cursor over the status indication will display a message describing the reason why your flight report was rejected. To view your flight reports, after logging in scroll to the bottom of the page, and click on `Profile`, then select `Flight Reports` in the new window.

No. Only flights OPERATED BY LUFTHANSA or LUFTHANSA CITYLINE can be submitted (with the exception of those flights covered in our currently valid codeshare cooperation agreements). Flight numbers are verified, and all INVALID, FICTIONAL or INCORRECT reports are rejected immediately.

Your account expires if you do not complete the minimum flights every 30 days. Expired accounts may be removed at any time at the discretion of the administrator. To reactivate your account, you need to complete atleast the minimal flights: your flight reports must be approved for the flights to affect the status of your membership account. Please note that we will not remove accounts until all pending flight reports have been evaluated.

Your status will remain inactive until your first logbook entry is created, following approval of a flight report. Flight reports are evaluated and approved by the administrator, and not automatically. You will notice a change in your status once the flight has been approved and the corresponding logbook entry added.

If your application was processed, then it is most likely you supplied an incorrect e-mail address. After registration, a confirmation e-mail is sent to the address you registered, which contains a link to view the actual status of your pending application. If you did not recive this e-mail please contact us (via `Contact us` link at the bottom of the screen)

Addons related to the aircraft in the Lufthansa fleet are available for download through our Fleet section and Downloads page. For more free addons, visit AVSIM or FlightSim.Com.

Changes in our policy no longer require members to fly online. However, we continue to support and recommend the use of VATSIM, and optionally ask you to enter your VATSIM ID for our records during registration.

Please observe the list of flight reports on your profile page (Log in -> Click `Profile` at the bottom of the screen). After selecting the Flight Reports page, you will be able to identify rejected flight reports as Grey entries, where the status indicates a rejected record. To read about the reasons behind the rejected, move your mouse cursor over the status indication. If you feel you have corrected all necessary items, please feel free to resubmit the flight report at a later time.

Visit the Member Center`s Settings page to find out how it is possible to change your typeratings.

Your status will become active as soon as your first flight report is approved and entered into the logbook.

No. Membership in our Group is free of charge.

We reserve the right to reject any application at our discretion, without any reason. However, we will usually provide a reason for the rejection, which is explained briefly in the e-mail you receive after the evaluation process. The reason of rejection in any case is not a matter of debate.

Application approval can take up to 10 business days. You will only notice a change in the status of your application once it has been accepted or rejected. In each case you are also notified also via e-mail.

No. It is necessary to obtain all necessary knowledge on navigation, aircraft systems and airline flight operations prior to applying for membership, therefore a few years of experience in virtual aviation is preferred.
